35th TOPIK 2 |19-20

Hi there! In this post I`ll go through the exercise 19-20 from the 35th annual TOPIK exam. It is a reflection on how I am preparing for my next TOPIK 2 exam and I hope you also find it helpful:)

Let's take a look at the actual text.

At first I always try to understand the context unaided. Then I look up all the unknown words for which purpose I mainly use the Naver app. It's been the best companion since I started learning Korean and the best thing about it is being free.

Vocabulary

과일을 익히다: to ripen a fruit

화학 물질 (化學 物質): chemical

대개 (大槪): most, usually

숙성되다 (熟成): to ripen, to mature

껍질: skin, peel

떨어지다: to fall, to be reduced

지속적: continuous



To make sure that I remember what I learned I like to make some translation challange for myself based on the original text. This is what I`ve come up with this time:

  1. Chemicals are used to ripen the fruits quickly

  2. Fruits ripened with chemicals are ripe on the outside but not on the inside

  3. Chemicals can remain on the skin of the fruit

  4. Eating these fruits can cause health problems

Here you find my answers:

  1. 과일을 빨리 익히기 위해서 화학 물질이 사용되기도 한다.

  2. 화학 물질로 숙성된 과일이 컽은 잘 익었지만 속이 익지 않은 경우가 많다.

  3. 화학 물질이 과일의 껍질에 남게 될 수도 있다.

  4. 이런 과일을 지속적으로 먹으면 건강에 문제가 생기게 된다.
