Translation practices

Hi there! Recently I was so into TOPIK preparations that I’ve almost forgotten about the real world out there:D Because TOPIK has a very specific language which has nothing much to do with how real Koreans speak or write. But if at some point I really want to be employed by a Korean company I need more practical stuff, so here I am. My teacher found me some great texts in English and I will try my best to make my translations sound less like a total beginner…let's see how it goes.

Here is the original text:

Transportation Card

Seoul has a well-developed public transportation system, and transportation fares are relatively low, making it easy to travel. When you travel in Seoul, you can buy a T-money Card to take buses, subways, and taxis more conveniently. You can pre-charge your card for any amount you want, and the fare will be deducted from your card when you take transportation. When you use a T-money Card, you can enjoy a 100-KRW discount compared to paying with cash, and you can also get a discount on transfers between buses and subways. To receive the transfer discount, you must tap/scan your card when boarding
and getting off the bus.

And this is my first try:

With the text also came a list of words about which of course I didn’t know beforehand. But it might just happen to be a good thing cause this way I can get new perspectives. This is the list:

  • 대중교통: public transportation

  • 환승: transfer(from bus to subway etc.)

  • 저렴하다:to be cheap

  • 액수: amount

  • 충전하다: to charge(phone etc.), to fill up(card with money)

Keeping these words in mind I might try to rephrase the following:

transportation fares are relatively low:

you can pre-charge your card for any amount you want:

And this is the second text:

Cheonggyecheon Stream

A place to relax at the city center

A great place to take a walk with friends, partners and family! Taking a walk after work on a sunny day relieves the stress of the day. Various events are held frequently and there are also wonderful exhibits, perfect for taking great pictures, It is a place I would definitely recommend to travelers visiting Seoul as the place to conclude the day.

My transation would be like this:

Well, what do you think? According to the internet the grammar is correct, which is like base one:D Let's what my native teacher has to say about it in a week and I will come back with an update.
